Look at it this way, if you were at a competing club and came to tryouts (or came out to a 'secret' practice session w the 1s team), then you would have received a 1st team offer because they want you to switch clubs.
But, if you are already in the club, they know you are probably not going anywhere and at the same time, they don't want you to leave for another club.
Trust me, if you are not getting significant guest playing time by next winter but you see new players out to practice you will probably not move up.
Sorry my opinion is a bit jaded, but it is based on a lot of 'lip service' this last year & watching players transfer in -vs- being promoted internally. No honest feedback, no honest communication, no metrics, no IDP, no data points, we were kept in the dark & then ID sessions were largely not helpful as kids made the 1st team and didn't even attend ID sessions. (or they attended 1x ID session).
However kids with a 'futures' designation all seem to be good players and could easily be on the top team now (my kid too), and they could move up, but Im not holding my breath again this year.
we are new to the club - not sure if that matters
