Well, maybe Americans don't want to eat this crap either. Maybe if they want more customers they need to improve their food, instead of selling the same crap later at night.

This, thank you! McDonalds in Germany was a quite different experience.

They are going after drunk people who will likely spend more than a kid.

I agree that they need to add back some healthy options for parents.

McDonald’s could do Salad and do it better if they wanted to.

What salads are their exec’s ordering? I’m sure it’s not that hard.

I love McDonald’s a few times a year. I’ve never been in one that had no seating. Those play areas are gross.

Hadn’t been to McD’s in years. Now take DC there as a reward. Food seems way better than past. QP, Nuggets, fries are always good. Rarely drink soda but the fountain soda is gret. But we hit a very, very high volume location in Bethesda.

Their target customer is a fast food eater, who may want to eat at hours you consider to be odd, due to the fact that their life is not like your life.

Sort of funny. There's a really nice McDonalds near my house with a play place. My mom goes and spends $$ on the grandkids because she's grateful she isn't paying play place prices ($15 a kid typically). My kids get happy meals and desserts even. I had to limit it because it's not healthy.

If the food was remotely edible maybe I'd go more often and I'd definitely order something for myself. I used to get the salad or the grilled chicken, neither of which are available anymore.
Two kids' meals and one coffee comes out to $16 with tax where I live, so they're getting plenty for me utilizing their free play space.

They aren't available anymore because people don't go to McDonald's to order salad. Their salad is going to be crap compared to places where it is reasonable to get a salad. Same with a grilled chicken sandwich. People are going to get the Big Mac or some chicken nuggets, or won't go.

Catering to the drinking and driving crowd, I see.

It’s just too expensive. I barely eat out, but looking online I think chain restaurants are offering deals that get you better quality food for comparable prices. If you’re going to be paying restaurant prices for food, unless you’re in a hurry and plan to eat in the car, it makes more sense to choose restaurant quality food over McDonalds.

They haven’t evolved, maybe they can’t?

It is disease causing poisonous slop served by low class workers who live on the margins. The stores feel gross and they’re typically full of homeless or druggies.

Places like Shake Shack, Chick-fil-a and Culver’s are far cleaner, higher caliber staff, and seem much more wholesome. I’d also rather grab my kids food at Starbucks than McDonald’s.

Spoiler alert: the major change is late night hours.
This is pathetic and they are totally missing the mark. McDonalds has always been the place you take your kids as a treat and to blow off steam in the playplace. They decided they didn't like that customer base and wanted to become the new Chipotle with higher prices and industrial, uninviting decor that encourages a grab-and-go model. But their food quality is worse than ever!
The only McDonalds I set foot in are the ones with the play area when the weather is bad. I don't even order food for myself, just a coffee and get my own lunch later. Play areas are being removed though. There also used to be a lot of retirees congregating there and they got rid of the booths so they must have found a new hangout. Who exactly are they hoping will eat there without a drastically improved menu?

You’re right, they probably don’t like the customer base of customers who go there and don’t order food for themselves . LOL
