Well, the grading at Brown is clearly quite liberal. Just look it up. Not so much at Cornell. I have no connection whatsoever with either.

My kid got a great internship this summer. Whenever people hear Brown—it gets big responses. Also- worked an internship in Europe sophomore year. We gave only seen big benefits. Brown is very well-respected.

The network is there, just like at other selective colleges. The trick for all of them is that, to benefit, you have to seek it out and not wait for it to come to you.

These people who say Brown/Cornell are easy… I’d like to see them get in and do well.

I noticed Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew B at the recent graduation so I assume their kids went there.

I’m increasingly suspicious of universities that admit kids for fame and money, which is common with ivy leagues.

Brown and similar are for making friends with connections but apart from that, the name doesn’t makes employers take a second look to hire. State schools are doing a great job at hands on readiness for careers, and they naturally have larger networks.

My nephew graduated Brown and landed a great job he loves. However I don’t know if he school made the big difference as DD’s friend from UMD was hired into the same position. With that said, he loved Brown.

Anyone with real experience about what's it like after you graduate Brown? Did the name help your child with jobs? Is alumni support strong? I hear this with some schools that aren't ivies, but can't figure out what post school benefit is of Brown if you're not going into medicine. I feel like I hear a lot of negatives like it's the "easy ivy" but you also hear a lot of negatives about Harvard these days and that wouldn't stop anyone from applying and going. Would love to hear someone's actual recent experience getting a job or internship. Thank you!
