We had our provider prepare a school version with portions of our choosing. Only share what you wish.

I did, and I only exclude the genetic testing results.

We’re starting a new school year and part because DC had issues with current teachers. We specifically had those teachers fill out the evaluations for neuropsych as we wanted to get an honest look of what was going on. One teacher was especially harsh (I now regret asking them as I think it’s become more personal and the other teachers captured it).

Is it fine to leave that off—it’s in the background/need for assessment section?

I am planning to ask them to just do a write of of test results and recommendations? Anyone else do that? That’s all the new school will care about right?

I should add my teen was the first to give us the idea. And it was a great one. I get the feeling it isn't the norm though.

I don’t think schools are subject to the same HIPAA restrictions, so I’d be hesitant to share everything.

We did this too - did not want father’s history of mental illness in documents given to schools.

Especially if your child has some kind of medical condition or a disorder with a lot of variability in presentation you don't want your school team deciding your kid's program based on a google search. My kid is in high school and we have never given them medical information and no one has ever asked for a diagnosis. Even if your kid is still little the program selection is already setting up for diploma/certificate track.

Most people get a school version. It only contains things pertinent to school.

This. You can get a school report that covers things that should support IEP accommodations and interventions— but does not include family history and other personal details.

I did, even though it had information about his difficult birth, developmental challenges as a toddler, constipation, feeding and OCD issues, etc. I wanted them to feel the full weight of his troubles, and understand that we were dealing with a lot more than the purely academicy problems related to his ADHD, dysgraphia, speech delays and low processing speed. In case they actually read the whole thing, that is. It was a very dense report, and school staff aren't exactly known to give themselves work outside of their basic duties (which I entirely understand).

They gave us more accommodations and services than I had anticipated.

You can redact anything really personal -- for example, any trauma history or details of your mental health -- but in general, schools want to see the whole thing. They know how to read it.

Do you typically share the whole neurospych report with all details with the school? Or just a relevant summary, like the diagnosis/strengths/challenges/accommodations? I'm happy with our report and the quality/depth of info from our provider but I'm not sure every detail is critical and I want the school to focus on certain things.
