The lowering of standards evidenced from this thread, is ridiculous. You pay a ton of money, including “service charges” and “cleaning fees” to rent a home, yet are still expected to live in these subpar conditions where you smell and clean up sh*t for a week. That is gross and why I stick to hotels when possible.

I'm calling total BS on ALL the posts saying you would all clean up someone else's feces on the wall. Not happening.

This is gross, and I'd take a picture and report it to the management company. But it's a vacation house. Sh!t happens. Literally.

I’d take a photo and report the poop and odor to the owner. I would then wipe the wall with a wipe or paper towel and water and get ready for bed. If there is a washer/dryer I would wash the rugs.

This is why I always travel with Clorox wipes or Lysol wipes (the small packets that you find in the travel section of CVS).

I'd go down to the front desk and ask to switch rooms.

Where are you? What does bleach and a dog kennel smell have to do with it? Why would feces be five feet above the toilet?

Text or call the property owner/manager. Then get a clorox wipe and wipe the wall.

Checked in to a vacation house rental for a week, everything looked pretty clean except rugs a little dirty- not a big deal. One bathroom smells off even running the fan for hours. Then it hits us is smells like a bleach and a dog kennel. Hours later while getting ready to go to sleep we spot something on the wall near the toilet closet. A small speck of poop on the wall a little over 5 feet up. Yes, its indeed poop. I wish we hadn't seen this but now I can't unsee it. What would you do?
