I can't believe we are encouraging our young people to do this instead of soccer, tennis, lacrosse - something that keeps. them in good shape.
Plus - frequent pickleball is really rough on the knees, legs, elbow, wrist -- way worse than tennis because the movements are so choppy and herky-jerky instead of fluid.
McLean has racked up Liberty District titles this year: Boys Cross Country, Boys Volleyball, Girls Gymnastics, Boys Basketball, Scholastic Bowl (OK, not too rough on the knees), Boys Swim and Dive, Boys Soccer, Baseball, Girls Tennis, and Softball. The pickleball players are often athletes from other teams just having some fun on the side (Pickleball isn't a VHSL sport). It doesn't mean they aren't doing other things to stay in shape.
