Didn't know there were VA HS pickleball teams. It's not a VHSL sanctioned sport is it?

My DD likes to play with her friends - she played a ton last summer. They get pretty completive about it too.

FWIW, she plays soccer, so she is doing other stuff other than just pickleball.

I don't see pickleball being any worse on the joints when compared to other court sports - my Mom used to play tennis, then switched to racquetball and is now playing pickleball and enjoys it.

I can't believe we are encouraging our young people to do this instead of soccer, tennis, lacrosse - something that keeps. them in good shape.

Plus - frequent pickleball is really rough on the knees, legs, elbow, wrist -- way worse than tennis because the movements are so choppy and herky-jerky instead of fluid.

Most of the high school players actually play multiple other sports so I’m not sure what your point is

I can’t believe teens are playing pickleball! I thought it was for older people who can’t play tennis anymore.

McLean has racked up Liberty District titles this year: Boys Cross Country, Boys Volleyball, Girls Gymnastics, Boys Basketball, Scholastic Bowl (OK, not too rough on the knees), Boys Swim and Dive, Boys Soccer, Baseball, Girls Tennis, and Softball. The pickleball players are often athletes from other teams just having some fun on the side (Pickleball isn't a VHSL sport). It doesn't mean they aren't doing other things to stay in shape.

For the complainers, it’s a sport. Not everyone wants to do the same old sports, and not everyone can get a spot on the team.

McLean has a very good team I think they will win. I haven’t heard of Herndon Pickleball but they must have a very solid team to be making it to the finals. Either way it’s gonna be a good match.

Its not a high school sport.

These are clubs like "dungeons and dragon club".

I am a Herndon parent and didn’t know that they had a team. This is great! Go hornets!

It’s surprising that Oakton didn’t make it in the top 3 this season.

Will definitely come and watch, I have a 7th and a rising freshman that both play pickleball. Hopefully they will make the school team next year!
