Brown is a way harder admit and recognized as such. Many people have never heard of William and Mary.

If you want your kid to get a quality education surrounded by inquisitive peers stay at W&M. If you want your kid to walk away with a 4.0 and spend 4 years with a bunch of snowflakes then Brown is the choice.

Not even close, Brown beats WM on recognition, prestige and academics. Students there are way more cerebral. Need to like city setting and there is a heavy dose of woke. Very different from sleepy WM which is a pretty dull place all in all.

W&M just because your DC could probably get a better gpa (much better?) at W&M which is basically all that matters for law school other than LSAT and work experience. That said, if Yale Law is her dream, go to Brown because they give a bump for Ivy+ schools.

OOS, I'd go with Brown. Monroe is prestigious and great but the summer money might be pretty easy to come by at Brown.

Brown if money is not a factor. But W&M Monroe is very nice.

I guess I wouldn't go to an Ivy just because it's an Ivy. I'd look at the school fit and environment for both of those, Go where the student feels like they could have a great 4 year experience. WM will serve you very well for law school admissions if that's the goal.

If money is no object, Brown. Otherwise, stick with WM.

Brown for sure, unless she really loves W&M more. Monroe scholarship is a pretty nice distinction in itself.

DC (a classics/ancient history major with an eye toward grad school or law school in the future) was all set on W&M (OOS) as a Monroe Scholar, but got off the waitlist at Brown yesterday.

W&M seems like a near-perfect fit, but it feels hard to turn down an Ivy. Any thoughts on Brown vs. W&M Monroe for a humanities kid, specifically campus experience and law/grad school placement? Thanks in advance for any input!
