Its not a biography but if they like historical fiction, there's one about Marjorie Merriweather Post that is fascinating. She is the daughter if Post cereal founder, built Maralago, is who Merriweather Post Pavillion is named after, and lived at what is now the Hillwood estate museum and gardens in DC. It's called the Magnificent Lives of Marjorie Post.

It's very long, but my mother-- who previously knew relatively little about Sylvia Plath and wasn't particularly interested in poetry--read "Red Comet" for her bookclub, and she *loved* it.

I've had "Romantic Outlaws: The Extraordinary Lives of Mary Wollstonecraft & Mary Shelley" on my list for a while, hoping to get to it this summer.

Loved this book as well. Another favorite is Savage Beauty. It’s a biography of Edna St Vincent Millay.

I loved the Friday Afternoon Club by Griffin Dunne. In case you don't know about him, he's a great actor and is the son of Dominick Dunne, who was famous for documenting scandalous court cases, like the OJ trial. It's a moving story about family, and also had lots of juicy gossip. And if you're like me and absolutely HATE Joan Didion, then you'll REALLY like it.

I also just read Graydon Carter's memoir, which covers the Spy Magazine years and then his long tenure at Vanity Fair. REALLY fun.

This is pretty popular and it's a memoir.

My book group mostly reads fiction, but every once in a while we read a biography or memoir. I'd appreciate any suggestions you might have. To give you a sense of books we've read and enjoyed chatting about, here's a quick list:

Becoming by Michelle Obama
The Color of Water by James McBride
My Life in France by Julia Child
Garlic and Sapphires by Ruth Reichl
When in French: Love in a Second Language by Lauren Collins
