I'm mid-50s as are my pals. I know more govt contractors than feds. One was put on admin leave in Feb or March and hasn't found a new job. Isn't optimistic about returning to the fed job. I knew 2 at DOJ: 1 remains, 1 resigned. All the contractors I know personally are still employed.

I know at least 20, most before the 2024 election but a few are still suddenly out of work. Spouses was one but has managed to land a new job a couple weeks ago. A few really surprised me. They have been recently rewarded at work. One works near the bleeding edge of tech with papers and recognition — as a techie not a manager.
Are the numbers similar in other age cohorts?
I’m in this cohort, so of course, I notice tbings happening to my peers (and my kids’ cohort).
