White progressives can vote their feels because their votes have little impact on their finances or job prospects. Most won’t be sending their kids to public schools (depart after 6th grade) and many will leave DC once they start a family. That’s her constituency

She will run and she will win

Prediction: Nadeau will run for re-election, and the constituents will beg her to do so. The locals are fearful of change and doubly so since Trump took office.

DC has run out of money and Nadeau has run out of ideas.

Think there’s a connection? I guarantee there is.

It’s easy to govern when the coffers are brimming with cash and decisions are easy to make.

The game has ended and so has Nadeau’s political career.

Nadeau has been an absolute abomination and embarrassed Ward 1 on a local and national basis. Supported I-82 and tried to buy votes in the black community via specialized tax abatements. My guess is she’s using the local media to see if there’s any interest in her continuing on the council. Likely she’ll run again and once again win via a small margin in a split field of candidates.

As usual, Alex Koma does his usual unserious hemming and hawing but if he's reporting that Nadeau is thinking of stepping down, chances are that she's stepping down (and frankly, reports that she's hesitant about another term are instant ammunition for any opponents she might have).

Ward 1 and the city will be better off with her out of office. But the most hilarious aspect of the story is that perennial electoral failure Ed Lazere has moved to Columbia Heights and is comically thirsty to run as a carpetbagger.
