in 2002 when I was Big 4 were were hiring at 50K fresh out of school. My two kids, one 23 and one 25 from average schools make 76k and 89k.

In 1999 I negotiated up to $35k to start at my first job in consulting at big 4. When My college senior was filing his taxes over spring break last month, we laughed because he had made that last summer at his first job which was a software dev internship.

20s - 25-65k
30s - 85-190k
40s - 190k-600k
50 - 160k

My kid is 22 starting out at 80; how times have changed.

2003 - $35k, but included all living expenses
2006 - $48k
2012 (32) - $68k
2015 - (35) - $90k

Now at 47 I'm at $105k with a job change and time off.

DS just graduated at 22 and is making $85k

When I started work at 22 I made $25k, up to $60k at 30. An inflation calculator says that's equivalent to $57k - $117k

1993 - $26K
1998 - $45k with a career switch
2000 - $160K (high performer)
2003 - $200K

It then fluctuated between $130K and $180K due to mommy tracking.

In 1997- I made 45K. In 2007- 140K. In 2012 I went to government and maxed out. I was stagnant until 2023 when I left for $300k. I am still behind in earnings because of federal service.

Double your age in your 20s, triple in your 30s, quadruple in your 40s, eventually max out in your 50s.
