My don wrestles and there are girls. I wish I had been able to do it back in the 80s.

Legends wrestling in Vienna is year round and has free trial. There are some girls only events.

Look into Germantown Wrestling Club in Moco. They have as many youth girls wrestlers as any other club in MD. Some are novice, some are pretty experienced so a good mix. It's a little further north than Bethesda and NW DC but a little closer than Wyoming Seminary.

There are several girls-only tournaments that are starting to pop up but most girls still compete with the boys in most tournaments. I believe Germantown and Headhunters Wrestling Club in Columbia have occasional girls-only practices (not 100% sure though) but the girls usually practice with the boys. If she has a girl teammate who is close in size/ability then it makes it easier to pair up as practice partners, so she could practice with another girl even if most of the rest of the team is boys.

Kids start as young as 5 so age shouldn't be an issue if she's already in ES.

My DS is a wrestler. In our district, it’s co-ed until high school.

In HS, the girls team competes separately but practices with the boys.

In elementary school, there is a lot of co-ed wrestling. Towards middle and high school, there are more opportunities to compete in girls-only event. Virginia just sanctioned high school girls wrestling. I'm not sure about Maryland.

Even in high school, some girls compete against boys, but with girls wrestling be sanctioned, we will see less of that.

Bethesda has a local wrestling club. I think it is called Bethesda-Chevy Chase (BCC) wrestling club. It seems like a good program. They have competitive boys wrestling in the local circuit. Not sure about the girls side.

DD is in ES and expressed interest in wrestling. Would she be competing with only girls or is co-ed? What age to start and are there classes / teams in bethesda or nwdc?
