It's weird. Anecdotally, I get the message that women are chasing marriage and that they get nothing out of it.

I never cared about getting married. My husband always did. He laments that he should have proposed sooner- I always so no, when we got engaged was just fine!
Why does he regret not proposing sooner if he ended up marrying you anyway?

I never cared about getting married. My husband always did. He laments that he should have proposed sooner- I always so no, when we got engaged was just fine!

Commitment exists WITHOUT a government permission slip.
A government permission slip DOES NOT GUARANTEE commitment either, with the ease of "no fault" divorces now.
It is what it is. Laws don't make bad people or incompatible people suddenly good.

I am a man and didn't give it much thought at all until I met my wife. We were nineteen though, so who knows what I would have thought in my 20s and 30s. Once I know, I knew, and it was really important to me, though.

Women's stock value starts going down after 30 so they are more interested in sealing the deal. Men are good until 44, more so if they then make more money.

Marriage is for both, wedding is for women. Women are very territorial towards the house as well, sometimes house decor or cleaning is more important than the actual family.

It seems to me that men get a lot more out of marriage than women do. Yeah, maybe more women want to get married, but men are the ones who want to stay married. Women get over that sh!t fast, lol.

This is about the men you are with, not men in general. My husband always wanted to get married and have kids. We have been together 25 years. I wouldn’t date someone who sees marriage simply as a piece of paper. That is not a good match for my values.

FWIW, for me (DW), I didn't want to get married, even though I loved now-DH. It was important to him to formalize the relationship.
