My 5 year old is in a booster. Why are you still using the toddler seat?

Your 8 year old is half a foot taller than mine and mine is in a booster. She’s not a toddler, you should move her to a seated booster. No bsck necessary unless your back seat has no head support, 99% do.

My 7 year old (8 in September) still travels in the harness booster seat. She still fits so I see no problem. I still need to fasten in her younger sister so it does not take any longer

I would double check that seat label. You think you have a five-point harness that fits a four foot six inch child *in the harnessed configuration*? And is in-date?

We switched our 8 year old to a high back booster about a month ago at 8 and a half. That said he's 47 inches and 44 pounds. He had no issues with it and honestly he was better at buckling and unbuckling than he is with his booster. But we had to take all the seats out for moving things and decided it wasn't worth reinstalling.

There’s no reason to move her unless she wants to. My almost 8 year old is in a 5 pt in one car and a high back in another car and he likes sitting in them. The child in the other thread wanted out of the seat so most people were saying due to her age and maturity to let her go in a low back since the high back is mostly for having a younger child sit properly in the belt.

If she doesn't have an issue with it, I don't see any reason to push it. She's a small kid the seat is safer. Even as an adult I had a nasty bruise on my shoulder from the belt when I was in a car that was rear ended, a five point harness wouldn't have that.

8 was the age that we switched to no car seat at all, but my son was a lot bigger than your daughter. Do you ever car pool? That would be a reason for me. I was glad my son could get in others cars easily as needed. Other families won't have a 5 point harness available at that age. Many won't even have a high back.

Frankly, we switched to a high back booster in first grade because of kiss and ride so it was for convenience more than anything. Now she would be embarrassed to be in a 5 point seat.

Do what works for your family op. If it’s not bothering you or her then it’s whatever. I am someone that said op of the other thread should try to find something she’s comfortable with since her daughter likely could safely have another option and she’s upset about it. But if it’s not causing an issue it’s safe and fine for your family. Is it typical? No. But that’s ok. My kid is 7 and has no access to video games which appears to not be typical for boys, random example but just saying ok to make our own call.

Yes, embarrassment. If she’s not embarrassed than who cares.

I’m the OP of the 10 year old thread and your 8 year old is bigger than my 10 year old, lol. Clearly everyone thinks I’m overbearing by having her in a high back so I’m not the authority to speak here, but will say when we switched it was much easier for her to buckle herself in and out and more comfortable per what she told me, so that’s my two cents take it or leave it. But from the other thread it sounds like we should both move toward a low booster… ::::shrug::::
