My brother got arrested and my family fully believed his story of innocence. We are a law abiding, rule following family. It wasn't until I read the charging documents years later that I realized he was guilty as charged.
As a native Ohioan, I’m not at all surprised. To be honest, I think it’s impossible to get to the level of city council in any major or mid-level city without being involved in some shady stuff along the way. But Cincinnati has always operated like a small clubby southern town at some level and there’s no way the allegations weren’t true. I think he ran into a situation of doing things the way they’d always been done, but he crossed the wrong person so he got punished for it.
I've read a couple of her books but this morning she posted on IG that her brother was arrested and in federal prison for bribery and extortion before becoming mayor of Cincinnati?? He seemed like a real rising star. She says she believes totally in his innocence. He wrote about returning to his Princeton Reunion under the cloud of all this and she shared it publicly.
Any locals following this case? I was totally shocked - her family seems so well-connected and upstanding.
