Neighbors ex husband went to her funeral together with his new wife, also AP before he married her, and the new kid he had with affair partner. Of course to support the kids he had with the neighbor. In their 70s

I don’t think anyone cried.

I would go and stand in the back to support my children. I wouldn’t go otherwise though.

Of course I would go. Not only to support our mutual kids, but because he was a big part of my life for 20+ years

I cried for DC. Losing a parent —even an extremely dysfunctional one— is life altering.

You massively overestimate how much attention people pay pay to you.

As an only child of divorced parents - who are both remarried. I did not invite my mother to my father’s funeral.

They both have moved on and remarried.

It's a funeral. You don't invite people. You announce it.

Why did you go then?

My mom attended my dad’s funeral to support her 3 (grown) children. They had been divorced for 25 years. I thought it was fine.

I recently went to a funeral. The ex daughter in law came. She sat in the back and left after the service. It was a long marriage and I thought it was an appropriate choice. No idea if she cried. It's not a requirement. .

My aunt went to the funeral of her first husband and behaved as if they had never divorced, out-crying and out-hosting the woman he was married to when he died. We still talk about it years later.

None of my relationships ended too badly but I still wouldn’t attend the funeral of an ex, even one I dated for 4+ years.

So not something I’d worry about.

Why would you attend the funeral of an ex? I don’t judge tears or no tears at a funeral.

Oh gosh I’d never go as it would be wildly inappropriate to dance a jig on his coffin- and that’s what the demise would require of me. Mine is abusive and awful and I wouldn’t even pretend to honor him. I
