We've been to Florida three times this year with teens. Fort Lauderdale has nice beaches and isn't too crowded. If you're up for it (and the price tag), Miami is great with teens. We also went to Key West, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Research red tide as well as sargassum…and then book a trip to the Caribbean.

We had a lovely time in the Lido Key/Siesta Key/Sarasota area with two young kids (gorgeous wide beaches, warm water) but check on the sargassum. I’ve never experienced it but have heard it can completely ruin a trip.

The Caribbean offers best beaches for us on E coast. Costa Rica is another place. I avoid Fl but unless you do local beaches it's prob most options. It's crowded on the E seaboard from Myrtle up but in Fl I think you are better off with options. Personally I would go to the islands. It suck as you'll have to fly but there's a reason why local beaches are so crowded

I was just reading an article about how the sargassum seaweed is heading into Florida, so I'd research the affected areas first to take things off the list

We are a little late on this however we are looking to book a short trip for our family of 4 (we have 2 teens) once school gets out (end of June). Looking for a quieter beach experience -- and we are not interested in local beaches (i.e. drivable). We are looking in Florida but since this would be our first time, we aren't sure where to even begin our search for a clean, quiet not super crowded beach experience (don't want to have to fight for chairs/umbrellas). We don't need tons in the way of entertainment -- as we spend most of our days on the beach, however great restaurants/food choices nearby would be a bonus. Looking to spend 3-4 nights at our destination. Any recommendations of tried and true vacation spots for families with older kids? Also willing to consider destinations other than Florida. TIA!!
