In that case, the weather will be perfect for your trip! Have a great time!

OP here. We are going over spring break because that is really the only time we can all go as a family without missing something. I know it may be a bit cooler, but honestly we are not huge beach people, so 1 day at the beach or two part days may be plenty.

I missed the fact that you are going in the spring. It will be lovely, but the water will be quite cold and you will probably not spend too much time in pools and at the beach. Great time to hike and see the sites though!

We also should be going to Crete. So excited.

But we picked it it checks the boxes with all the activities we were looking for: ancient sites, hiking, and scuba diving/beach.

Op here. Enjoy your trip and I'd love an update when you get back. How many days are you planning in each location? Are you taking a ferry or flying to Crete?

We are planning 4 days in Crete. 2 days of diving/beach, the gorge hike, and the Konosooss Palace (I know, my spelling is off!). I would have loved to stay longer and rent a car to do more but our time is limited so we are just doing day tours with transportation/guides. I will post a trip report when I get back!

You say you don't want to fly but for Crete but it really is a big time saver. And you don't have to worry about wind and waves making a ferry trip unpleasant.

If you only want one island, then I suggest Crete because there's so more to see. Five or six days in Naxos would be a dream for my middle aged self, but teenagers might get bored unless they really love water sports.

You probably know this already but many Greek islands won’t be ‘open’ for tourists until sometime in April.

Op here. Thank you! I honestly hasn't thought about renting a car. I'll have to look into that.

We will be taking a family trip next spring to Greece. My husband and I have both been but our children have not. They will be 17(f) and 15 (m). We plan to spend three or four days in Athens and then we would like to go to an island for five or six days. I was thinking Crete or Naxos but I’d love to hear any other suggestions you have. I’d prefer to take a ferry instead of flying, but I know some are an all day ferry which may not be worth it.
