If you're looking for other options for your 7 year old for winter swim, I also recommend checking out Patuxent Aquatic Club (PAC). It's super laid back and much cheaper than most of the other (non DC Wave) winter programs. One of the practice locations is University of Maryland, so maybe not quite as close as some of the Wave locations, but only 20-25 min from Brookland.

If you don't yet have a summer swim team, I'd recommend checking out Adelphi (I know PGP has a loooooong waitlist and I think Cheverly's is pretty long too?). There are a TON of Brookland families at Adelphi, and a bunch of families that do DC Wave.

1. I'm guessing that means they didn't get it but kiddos is almost there right?
2. How is this class? is it worth trying? (price wise is great!)
3. is there other teams for 7 years old that you can recommend? my kiddo really like swimming and I know that there's a world out there. We're located in Brookland if that is helpful.

Thank you for your resources. I'm not really intense, I just want to support my kiddo who doesn't like any other sport.

Reach out and ask for their assessment and specific reason for this placement. It is always good to know where your kid is at and what they need to work on to get to the next level.

It is likely that if they made this recommendation your child needs to work on stroke mechanics and stamina. and if that is the care other teams will likely tell them the same.

The price is right, the location is right - take that Wave spot *and* go find a summer team for DC to join. You can either go to a private pool (cross over into MD for more options - Cheverly would be convenient for you) or a city or county pool (a couple of those have summer teams). I'm not in the District so can't list your city pools with teams, but I know others here will be able to.

Summer swim is by far the best way to get kids hooked on swimming. Good luck!
