I came from a Lexus GX and certainly miss the tank like reliability; Lexus/ Toyota has had their own issues with engines as models are refreshed. Its honestly not a great time to buying a car if your looking for reliability. Too much emphasis on fuel economy and performance vs reliability.
that is only on the one engine and the new models dont have that issue. Yes a very very big recall. But nothing to do with new models being sold.

Some people don’t want to be seen driving a minivan though.

A japanese minivan is more practical and yet the least cool thing on the planet.
I think it is a great car a married couple who both drive it. My wife has a GMC SUV and loves it as all the bells and whistles she likes, drives nice and lots of room. Lots of comfort features. I like it as when I borrow it or drive it dont feel like I am driving a womens car or Dad mobile minivan.
So kinda good for Married couples where Dad and Mom both drive. I know everyone loves Toyota but bottom line does it really matter if a Chevy Tahoe may last 16 year and 180K miles versus 20 years and 200K miles for a Toyota to a new car buyer?
