They are going to get a lot of McLean players who want to stay in ECNL.

Not really. Most families in McLean cannot travel to Arlington practices. Parks are too far away, with the biggest one near 14th Street Bridge, and the parks are so tight there is zero parking. Not to mention during rush hour traffic.

There is this thing called rec. Guarantees you stay local.

If a kid is even remotely serious about soccer rec is a complete joke. One practice a week with one game a week. The coaches are just parents. Most of which have no clue about soccer. The other kids don't have any skills or know positioning.

Did anyone get cut who was on the 2015 roster last year?

I’m not aware of anyone. My kid is on a mid-tier team for 2015 so expect an offer. Just using as a datapoint that at least some (all?) 2015 offers aren’t out.

It’s not that they “choose to look outside”. At least on the girls side, the club is picking up girls every year from other clubs and even states. Looking back at past Academy teams, you get a few kids who have been ride or die arlington since birth, but most joined between 10 and 14, then a few standouts from other clubs are added so the kid can get the visibility for college.

It’s the nature of the beast. The hungry kids/parents are the ones grinding. Not the kid who just wants to play soccer with their friends.

Arlington happily promotes from within—until pre-academ level…Arlington coaches become squirrely. At U13 (1st year of Academy) all bets are off—a majority of the team are not actually from Arlington. Which is curious, considering there are 6-8 teams at each age group, yet they choose to look outside their own program for talent at the Academy level.

Let that sink in.

Love that it is either gunning for college or rec for people on this message board. My child outgrew rec years ago when he would score too many goals and then have to be slowed down (as it absolutely should be in rec). The competition in mid-level travel is great for him!

I think it probably depends on age group. 2010 offers are out.

Now that tryouts are over, has anyone heard when offers will go out for the non-encl/pre-ecnl players?
