Trump has arranged a way to steal most of the water that used to fall as rain on the DC area. He’s keeping in secret underground tanks under his golf course in Virginia. That’s why we’re in a drought. He’s been sucking all the rain clouds of of the sky at night. That’s why it hadn’t rained. But he’s in Saudi Arabia right now and that’s why it’s raining today.

NP who voted for Harris. I really thought I remembered messaging within the last six months that the amount of rain had pulled us out of drought conditions. I was surprised when I heard that we were still considered in a drought. Don't be nasty

Severe drought. We are, or were, a little low this year. This week should get us close to one or two standard deviations from the average.

No. All of the meteorologists are conspiring to report about the drought. It’s beneficial to them because it drives up ratings. There is no drought. /s

Yes, we rarely received any rain last summer and into fall. Usually a rainy fall will make up for it, but we didn't have one. And we usually have a rainy April, but it was hot this year for a large part of April.

I'm elated all this rain is washing down the pollen.

Yes, the drought has been severe in many parts of the region. Also, it's been a great year for my roses!

We are set to improve based on all of the current rain, but not to end the drought.

It takes a few weeks to get updated data, but here is a good site.

Why respond like that to someone who is just sharing their shock at how deeply dry the ground is?

There's a really steep gradient for the drought. It's been a mild drought where I am, but where my parents lived until last fall a mere 45 minutes away was moderate approaching severe.

Been raining all day like cats and dogs, yet the well for sump pump is still bone dry. Has it really been that bad here? I know they've given drought warnings for almost 2 years now.
