My oldest got a 560 on the sol and 82% on the Iowa (several years ago). She thought the math on the Iowa was easy, but the timed aspect was stressful and she didn’t do well with that.

My current 6th grader got a 98% on Iowa and is also super stressed about the sol. The good thing is they’ve done SOL for years now, so it should all feel pretty familiar.

Now, she's all stressed about the VA SOL. I would think it's easier to get advanced on the VA SOL than to get above 91% on the Iowa test. I told her that and she said she heard the opposite. What do you all think? (Either way, she doesn't need to stress. She will end up in the class that is right for her and all I want is for her to learn these foundational math concepts well.)

I think it doesn't really matter which is harder. What you parenthesized is what matters. Is she this anxious about other things, or is there peer pressure to get into Algebra 1 H at her school?

Not what you asked but if DD is already this worked up in 6th, she would do well to take math 7 honors and not algebra even if she gets score to allow it. Take algebra in 8 not 7 if already stresses about school at 12 years old.
