One model that I've seen recommended in a number of places -- e.g., Consumer Reports, Food & Wine -- takes nearly 90 minutes to cook brown rice for 4 people. I've only used a rice cooker once and that was a long time ago, but I definitely don't remember it taking that long. Yikes! Am I reading the instruction booklet wrong?
DCUM, foodies, lay your wisdom on me!
Wow, that's slow.
Have a little one that cooks based upon spring pressure and water weight in the bowl, so it self adjusts somewhat. Takes about 25 min from plugging it in to finish, then it stays on "warmer" mode after that, so have to unplug it fast or it will dry it out.
The only cooking difference between white and brown rice is you must add a little real butter to the brown rice or it will form a pasty goo instead.
Always rinse rice well before cooking. Many companies, especially sourced overseas stuff, will add microplastics to the rice to keep them from sticking together so much.
