That's not a maxi dress. "Maxi" implies floor length and lots of fabric.

I have black dresses for funerals. A winter one (ponte, knee length sheath), and a frilly lightweight cotton one with an A line skirt that ends below the knee.

I think you could wear this to a funeral if it wasn't too wrinkly and you dressed it up with black pumps, nice bag, nice belt.

I would argue that dress isn’t really appropriate for a funeral.

Throw on a denim jacket. I’d wear it to dinner, for a car trip, pack to wear on vacation, use it as a cover up, pair with sandals.

I'd wear it with boots when it gets cool again - out to dinner, anywhere else.

Hard to wear a dress like that in the summer, though. Maybe with Vans to dress it down?

Wear colorful jewelry if all black seems too somber. Or, even if hte cut is flattering, this might just not be a look for you.

I have 3 black midi dresses about that length - 2 linen and 1 cotton (from Uniqlo). They are classic styles and I wear them Spring - Fall.

I think black is fine by itself but if it bothers you, add cor in your shoes and sweater or jacket.

I just bought a black maxi dress (Uniqlo) that is really flattering, but I'm questioning whether there's any occasion to wear it outside of a funeral?? who's even wearing head to toe black these days. should i return this? I'm shorter so this is coming down a bit closer to the ankle on me.
