No ding at all. And quit with the Asians have to be perfect trope. There are Asian students at MIT who didn't score 800 on their SAT math. Who didn't get 5.0 weighted GPAs. Normal good students get accepted every year. Chill out. PLEASE. Kids get suicidal over this stuff.

130,000 students take Calc BC. Probaby 100,000 get an A in and for any marking period-quarter, semester-so you have no chance for MIT.

At TJ the 4.3 is pretty low for unhooked at ivies. Not even sure UVA is a solid option.

Why do you only care about MIT, Stanford, and Ivies? That's the bigger problem. Please get out of this mentality that these are the only good schools. Your child will thank you.

Your child's biggest competition is always their own classmates. If your kid applies with the B+ and the rest of their peers that apply to a college have an A it's going to be hard unless your kid's extracurriculars, recs, essays, etc are clearly better.

For these schools an A in Calculus may not be enough. With a big spike or a hook, you may get in with a B. We don’t know your DC enough to provide any meaningful advice.

Child in TJ - current Junior and may end with B grade in AP Calc BC. I have heard all grades should be A being Asian to get into Ivy/MIT/Stanford. What are the chances for those schools for a Bio major with a B grade in AP Calc BC and remaining As or A- in Junior year. Overall GPA end of Junior will be close to 4.3; SAT 1570+; Good ECs
