I had the same question. I have no issue with pushing her down from the first team, if that's what happened. Our daughter had a serious injury at around the same age and was placed on our club's third team (she couldn't play for the whole spring and couldn't do tryouts). We were fine with that and it was unquestionably for the best . . . it gave her the chance to recover and get back up to speed in an environment where it was easier to rebuild confidence and shine (because the competition, both internal and external, was less). She then played her way back up.
I have a much bigger issue with dropping her entirely from any team. That's cruel at this age (especially because most teams have some filler on their lowest U9/U10/U11 teams) and reflects poorly on the club/coaches.
