I would tell him to ask his dates -- they often have opinions!
I have opinions, too, though. For the first prom, how about a light gold? Like, almost neutral. My husband has a nice tie like this.
For the second, maybe black, or maybe he asks the girl what color flowers she would like, and he matches that?

My DD’s boyfriend’s mom got me to send photos of the dress so they could use them for tie shopping.

DS has two proms to go to and is asking for tie color help, I’m a little useless in this area
Prom 1 : dark grey suit, date’s dress is yellow
Prom 2: light grey suit, date’s dress is silvery
He has white shirts and we can get other colors if needed. Is it important tie is same color as dress? I don’t think either of those will look great but we’ll get what we need to. Would appreciate advice!
