So people who aren't religious can't find it offensive?


Not PP, but I can imagine a lot of different ways to read the last sentence. Most of them would be about telling Catholics (and possibly other Christians) how to feel about this.

You might feel different, but I would expect non-religious people to be offended in this situation because they would think the separation of church and state should apply better.

It has bothered me for a long time that MAGAs have co-opted religion when what they action directly contradicts the basic tenets christianity and most religions (feed the hungry, lift up the poor, welcome the refugee, etc.).

I think him posting that picture has shown what most of have known for a long time -- that he pursues power blindly without any regard for values of the people (America and/or religion)

As a Protestant that bothers me, and I belong to a denomination that once upon a time declared the sovereign of England to be its spiritual leader!

I mean the qualifications for a church leader in 1 Timothy 3 are pretty pertinent here (note I know that many church leaders fail the test of these qualifications - I know):

an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money....he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into ha snare of the devil.

Personally I think it's tasteless, but I already dislike him. I wonder what some of his supporters think.
