I don’t know why but I’m always irritated by the ones with celebrities just interviewing each other.

Are you listening to The Rest is history yet? I find them very amusing.

Do you speak any Spanish at all? The old Duolingo Spanish podcasts are great. Listen to the one about the singing grandma, or the frog trying to find a mate, or the long series on the Argentine bank heist, or there’s a great one about an art theft/fraud that I think takes place in Chile. They are half English and the Spanish is really simple so if you speak any Spanish at all you can follow easily.

Sometimes the Freakpnonics ones are really interesting.

I keep looking for more. One thing podcasts have taught me is that even celebrities that I think are very very funny and witty are just not that funny and witty when they have to do an hour a week or whatever.

I love the Moth, This American Life, Fresh Air, and Conan. Conan talks about himself at of all the time but some episodes are hilarious and generate tremendous belly laughs.

Stuff you should know

I like celebrity interviews- Call Her Daddy, Podcrushed, Trevor Noah, Mayim Bialik’s, Rob Lowe, etc.

I have recently started listening to more podcasts. I enjoy history ones and have a good set of those. But sometimes they get too heavy and I want something fun. I sometimes listen to smartless, but if I’m not in the right mood the guys bug me.
My bar is low for podcasts that take a 5 min story and make it a 10-part series full of “cliffhangers” that are anything but, or the hosts who can’t stop talking about themselves. I know, I sound really picky, and I guess I am. It’s my entertainment, so I actually want it to be entertaining.
Anyway, welcome any suggestions for podcasts people enjoy. I think what I am looking for the podcast version of People magazine. (And now I realize there probably is exactly that so I’ll go look for it. But other ideas!). Thanks
