The DCUM comment on all the threads keep getting odder and odder.

It's like all his supporters are huffing glue to maintain their cognitive dissonance so they can find things say.

This. Many of us are now Dems. MAGA is crazy racist grifter town. Nothing republican about them.

"This could be solved by having multiple parties, not just two, or systematic ranked choice voting."

Guess who just said that ranked choice voting should be be banned?

Trump and the Republicans.

Republicans HATE democracy.

There's a fundamental problem with all these labels. The people they represent may not actually hold such views, but they still vote for the politicians upholding those values because they've been brainwashed by the media they listen to, to never trust the other side.

Take gun control. A majority of polled Americans have wanted common sense gun control for years now, which includes more restrictions than currently exist. Did this ever get reflected in recent legislation? No. Why? Because of extremely effective lobbies and right-wing propaganda disseminated on Fox and social media that smear Democrats and have sowed extreme distrust in more rural and conservative circles, who now will never vote Democrat. And the GOP politicians, spurred by the fringes of their party and pushed by the NRA and Fox, do nothing.

Same goes for any issue on which the conservative rank and file might be willing to see reason. Fox doesn't want them to. Politicians accept money and support from those with an interest in pushing extreme views, but since it's packaged in an "own the libs" style which right wing politicians have fostered for decades, the base still votes for them, thinking they're protecting their country from bogeymen which don't exist.

And you could say the same, in a smaller way, for the left. It wallows in its own media bubble, and is powered by its own interests which entirely ignore the pain of border towns overwhelmed by migrants, and the regions dependent on old industries that have been laid to waste by investments in new energy sources and unfettered global trade. People there feel entirely abandoned by multiple left-wing governments.

This could be solved by having multiple parties, not just two, or systematic ranked choice voting. That way people might become more comfortable going out of their original party to vote for an interesting candidate.

Let's check back in on those numbers when the shelves start emptying out in May. Republicans are in a cult so it may take longer for them to wise up to what's going on, but at some point when things get worse, even they will notice.

He's even under water with Fox polling, so much so that he demanded they fire their pollster.

There is a whole thread that shows real polling that undermines your assertion. Just from the last few days...

NP. I agree with you, but in these polls, Trump still score high among Republicans. He is underwater with Independents, the voters you need to win elections.

Actual polling is 100% completely counter to this statement across every issue:

economy
housing
transportation
immigration
foreign aid
gun control
abortion
Ukraine

you name it, Trump/MAGA are in the minority in some cases by as much as 70-80% on most of these issues.

As Trump piles up more and more indefensible criminal and authoritarian behavior, and flips flops on core issues like tariffs, I'm noticing that the "moderate" right wing has fallen largely silent, unable to post defenses of his behavior.

In its place, the incoherent rambling and content-free screeching is ticking up.

If we continue to have elections, we may see that Trump has lost the half of Republicans who aren't useful idiots for Russian agents.
