Sorry...too much uncertainty about whether these students will get jobs or whether employers will be afraid to hire them.

A lot of the fancy coaches claim their clients may apply to to ivies like Harvard, but don't plan to accept offers. There is too much uncertainty about whether these students. Harvard, Columbia, UPenn and others are losing their prestige.

Really - the few at our school are completely packaged into being “impactful” or whatever that recent thread said. People have been saying that schools see thru nonprofits, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Plus it is seems like making some sort of advocacy group is helpful too - god forbid our kids contribute to well established organizations.

At our private, the one kid going to Harvard is no surprise: 1600, 4.0, student body president, strong EC's outside of school. Nice kid

DS admitted to both but fundamentally interested in quantitative approaches to political science. MIT has an amazing political science department where I think he could have received a lot of individualized department, but he felt like he would be weirdo if he wasn't studying engineering (not sure if this accurate, but he tells me that there was a single digit number of pure political science majors at MIT last year). He's excited to start at Harvard and planning to concentrate in Applied Math (Government track).

West coast parent here. My kid is starting at Stanford, but we went out to Harvard's Visitas this past weekend. My kid and I were both independently impressed (and in some cases blown away) by many of the kids that we met. Cambridge is too far away for my kid, but congrats to everyone who is heading there.

I don’t believe for a second you have more than the most superficial knowledge of the kids you claim are unimpressive. Do you know their transcripts, scores? Did you read their essays? Do you know what they did outside school settings?

I do, however, know that you sound petty AF.

Hmmm…the kids mine met at visitas were all accomplished but had varied , deep
Interests…many were considering offers from Stanford , Yale , MIT, or Princeton as well , but chose Harvard
