I don’t know about the Chem, but my kid said that Bio 1 is quite intense at TJ.

Yes, it is an option starting this year. Only Precalc or above students can take Chemistry in Freshman year.

This is an excellent option for advanced math students.

Except that it's not a thing. So other than that, better. (Also, it isn't offered this summer, so that's not a thing either.)

OP's DC will have to double up some other class, not science.

base school kids have been doing it forever. TJ is catching up, but allowing only accelerated math students.

I have heard of doubling up with Honors Chem and AP Biology but not Honors Bio and Honors Chem. I thought the doubling up was more the honors class and then the AP class for the last years Honors.

This is the first time TJ is allowing Chemistry HN to be taken as a freshman elective. It is only available to advanced math students that have completed Algebra 2 before entering TJ.

There is one poster on this forum constantly badmouthing middle school math acceleration posting bogus arguments why students should not enroll in Algebra 1 in 6th, or enroll in Geometry in 7th grade summer, in order to complete Algebra 2 full year in 8th grade, even though they are excellent math acceleration options for advanced math students.

Glad DC completed Algebra 2 full year in 8th grade, and will be enrolling in TJ Chemistry 1 as a full year course in TJ freshman itself, helping with overall course load distribution.

It was on the TJ course selection options for the class of 2029 for any student taking AP Pre-calc or above in 9th grade.

Where did you get this information about math level dependency?
Biology 1 is a full year freshman course, and is a prerequisite for Chemistry 1.

It's never been allowed before, so the answer is no, no one has done it.

Cannot be taken the summer before or during freshman year. Can be taken as a summer course at the end of freshman, only if offered by TJ. Not easy as a summer course, not recommended without advanced prep.

Has anyone’s child taken Chemistry as an elective in 9th grade at TJ?
