We are debating between there, Chestertown and St. Michaels, but don't really want to drive the 90 minutes to St. Michaels. DH and I are just looking at downtown together in a nice spot. There are a number of lodgings choices but I haven't seen much about restaurants.
St. Michael's will be more fun than your other choices.
Another town you can walk in 10 minutes, with a few mediocre restaurants and not much else.

Some very good restaurants - The Retriever, Watershed Alley, and The Kitchen at the Imperial, Modern Stone Age Kitchen, Stam’s for ice cream. A nice farmers market on Saturday and some cute shops and art galleries. The Kent County Alliance and the Garfield Theater also have events/shows.
Chestertown is low key the most racist town in Md.

We went on a family trip for a big triathlon they host in the fall once. It was a fun family weekend, but very low key.
