I am sorry you've been ill. I lost 50 lbs at one point and nobody could tell (including me) and it made me so discouraged that I gained back like 35 of it.

Just pivot the conversation.

"Hm, yeah. How 'bout them Cubs?" (or whatever is relevant to your situation, obviously)

... I saw Joan the other day. Did you know she started a new job?

... John and his wife are expecting another baby. Isn't that great!

... I heard you're a busybody. Now we know its true!

Not OP but I don't think it matters. I have lost weight intentionally and still did not want to discuss it. It's something personal for my health and I am not looking for compliments or congratulations from anyone.

Do what my mil does when dh tries to discuss his feelings: "So how was your Fourth of July?!" She doesn't even acknowledge what he said, she simply asks a conpletely unrelated question in a cheery upbeat tone.

Hard to give you advice if we don't know if you were trying to lose weight or if it was a by product of illness.

"Thanks for noticing. I'd rather not discuss my health. Do you have any fun plans for next weekend?"

OP was this weight loss intentional, or are you ill? If you want to change the topic quickly, tell us what happened in real life so we can advise you.

I've said things like "I don't keep track" "I feel good, thanks" or "I'm trying to eat healthy" and quickly change topics. It's still awkward but I definitely don't owe anyone answers on this (no, I'm not on meds).

Just tell them you've been sick and don't want to talk about it. That'll shut them up.

Just say yes. And then make a South Park joke about semaglutide....in Cartman's voice.

Are you on semaglutide? That is why they'd ask.

I’ve recently lost weight, and am getting some comments about it at work and in my personal life. People are trying to give me a compliment but I’m not very comfortable with discussing it. How can I graciously respond when someone asks, did you recently lose weight? How did you do it?

I don’t want to be rude, but I’d like something to say which will change the topic as quickly as possible.
