I bet. Our AART always made a big deal about the packet needing to paint a complete picture of your child. Positive comments would absolutely help do that.

My child's teacher included positive comments within the work samples. I don't know how common that is, but I think it was extremely helpful.

My child is bilingual and that was noted.

I thought that comments were not left for the HOPE but I saw someone said that their kids HOPE had some comments. I would guess that the only HOPE scores with comments would be kids teachers strongly endorsed because they know parents can ask for them. It would be surprised if a teacher wrote negative comments on a HOPE.

The HOPE Form says:

OPTIONAL: Please note any comments about a student’s strengths that the committee feels are not represented in the above items. (maximum character count 500)

I thought one major rationale behind switching to HOPE was that teachers could write nothing.

Disappointed to only see: _______is taking advanced math this year (information that already shows on the report card). My child got in (not because of Hope, but because of a strong parent referral). Do other schools have teachers that include comments?
