MCPS parent here - PTA volunteers planned it. Downsized eventually to just fifth grade.

Also the school's Title 1 status helps them obtain extra funds to pay teachers for after school activities like talent show rehearsals, and also to help sponsor events like that (not necessarily Title 1 money, but they often get grants and donations from non profit orgs or businesses specifically because they are Title 1 so the money is guaranteed to help a high percentage of at risk/FARMs kids).

Wondering if our kids are at the same school. Ours is run by performing arts teacher who is amazing but puts in a lot of time afterschool all year to lead various performances including a talent show. But as PP said it’s Title 1 which comes with money to pay her.

Are most talent shows held at DCPS Elementary schools planned by the school or by the PTA/PTO/parent volunteer/Booster club etic?


DCPS talent show was organized by parents and is more of just a free-for-all show.

Charter middle talent show organized by the school and involved auditions, only a bunch of performances, and awards for the best.

We don't have a talent show. No school plays. Only 2 concerts led by the music teacher.
