How is this surprising? More than half of the US think he’s doing a horrible job. If we don’t like him, why would we be surprised that they don’t either? He’s completely erratic and untrustworthy.

The democratic countries around the world have no respect for Trump and our government for good reason. After the Popes funeral there was a room full of leaders standing around the edges of the room. There were quite a few people there. Leaders were introduced and people clapped. Zelensky came in and he got a big applause. Trump came after him and there was dead silence. Not even some random polite clapping. Trump was given zero respect while Zelensky, the man without the suit who JD Vance snickered at got a roomful of respect and love.

Who are our largest trading partners?
Who send the most tourists to the US?

Do you think the US is alone in the world? Do you think the US can be great if people don't want to visit and spend money here, if people are not buying our products and services?

Allies help the US with its difficult relationships. All of the US's allies imposed sanctions on Russia after the invasion of Ukraine. That helped America's interests (back before America was allied with Russia). Allies participated in the invasion and occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Most importantly, Americas allies are rich and buy the US's goods and services. In case you are not aware, there is a movement in the EU to put the EU flag next to EU produced goods. That allows people to avoid purchasing US goods. The same thing is happening in Canada.

Finally, the US's destruction of its relationships has caused US tourism to crater. US tourism represents a significant percentage of its GDP.

The US is very strong and powerful, but it will be significantly weaker and poorer without friends.
