Williamstown is great for sports - decent skiing 15 minutes away, good skiing an hour or so away. Tight community. Assuming you have transportation easy to get to NYC and Boston. Most Williams kids I know are down to earth and very comfortable in their own skin. It is the "if you know, you know" mentality.
Not sure why you are hating on Williams like this? People who take such extreme positions on things are just advertising their ignorance. You can constructively say negative things about a school, but the passionate hatred is juvenile.
And in saying all of this, I think Vandy is an incredible place with great resources. Very different places.

In a lot of circles, particularly within a lot of traditional industries like law, medicine, and finance, Williams is still seen as a solid tier above Vanderbilt. Vandy strikes me as a school that is somewhat overrated for what its selectivity with a very insecure Chancellor who seems to be obsessed with rankings.

Vanderbilt has frats -- not what I'd choose but perhaps your kid disagrees.
