I am 5'6" and feel and look best at 140, which is just above 20% bodyfat for me. At 130, as was suggested as ideal by PPs, my face looks old and skeletal and I lose my boobs entirely.

Assuming female?

Ectomorph body = 95-125lbs low to mid bodyfat %
Mesomorph body = 110-150lbs low to mid bodyfat %
Endomorph body = 125-160lbs higher bodyfat %

Well this is depressing. I’m 5’4” with an ectomorph body type, so my range should be about 90-115? I was feeling good that I had slimmes down to 125 …

Note that OP said "ideal" weight. There are ranges for a reason. 125 is in the ideal range and if you are over 45 that's great you slimmed down to that.

Sounds like you need to work on positive thinking more now.

I am early 40s and 5'7'' and about 135. I love this weight. If I had to pick beteween 130 or 140 I'd choose 130.

So for 5'6'' I'd say 130 is great.

I’m convinced most of the people who post have very disordered thinking or are trolls. Ignore the madness.

I once read that a healthy weight is 100 lbs plus five pounds for every inch you are over five feet. So, 5’6 is 130.

I’m 5’7 and currently 124 after taking a GLP-1 to lose 21 lbs. Everything fits so nicely now, belly is almost flat (three kids so I don’t know that I’ll ever get ride of the little pooch) legs look slim. So I think 5-10 lbs under that old rule I read is perfection.

That is insane. At 5'3", I would look skeleton weighing 115. I feel great now at 135, but am trying to get to 130. But I'm very athletic and fit with dense large-ish boobs.

Comparing numbers is pretty stupid - two people can be the same weight, same height, but look very different depending on their fitness levels.

Big question is ideal to whom? DCUM seems to be overpopulated with women who like a very thin look, but that look is not universally appealing. They claim to be HS weight in their mid 50s. I haven’t seen anyone in the wild who fits that bill who looks particularly great.

It depends on your build and muscle mass. I actually look skinnier now much weight slightly more since I started weight training.

115-125. Below that, my face looks old now. Above 125 and my butt looks too big for my frame.

I'm 5'6". I'm 54 and ideal weight would be about 135 to 140. But 150 is probably more realistic. I weighed 169 this morning and am working on losing weight. When I was 25 I weighed about 115 and looked amazing. That's not realistic now.
