Are these legitimate opportunities, or should we be cautious of potential scams?

Can players actually get recruited at an ID camp? 😊

He plays in the ECNL RL.

Thank you

If he is in Prime-Time form and the camps are at a school or if they are in direct correspondence with a school he wants to go to, then this could be his final shot at committing to one of these schools. Sometimes, kids players communicate with the school ahead of time and the ID Camp gets the kid in front of a coach and then an agreements can be made. Sometimes, it is the other way, kid plays in front of a coach for a school he wants to go to, then the kid follows up to secure the deal down the road.

Some of those big ID camps are decent (and some are worthless), but they are really for freshman and sophomores (junior at the latest). They are ok opportunities for underclassman to start the recruiting process. He is way past that. He needs to start going to school ID clinics ASAP to have any chance.

If the camp is not run by the university, you will hear that's it's a money grab.

My opinion is any opportunity to talk to coaches is good for the player. If he's entering senior year, I would expect him to have a top ten list in schools. Go to those school websites and see if the university has any id camps scheduled, if not, then go to the commercially run camps and look at what coaches are attending.
