+1 to the Viking museum. Go when it first opens and you could still have time for something else later in the day. It doesn't have to be an all-day thing, we were probably there 2-3 hrs.

We just spent a week in Copenhagen and it was such a pleasant lovely chill vacation! We didn’t even leave the city. My kids are 8 and 10 and they loved tivoli gardens so much we spent 2 full days there. Other activities were canal boat tour, hop on/hop off bus tour, shopping along the main pedestrian drag, walking around and having a picnic in the park by the little mermaid statue, and biking around the city for a day with a stop at the hippie commune for lunch. My kids loved it, they were begging to move there.

NP who is also going soon- this is good to know although I'm seeing that sunset time is already 8:45pm so not sure if my ES-aged kids will make it that long!!

We are planning to go to Tivoli the day we arrive (late morning/midday arrival from elsewhere in Europe so jetlag won't be an issue). Then we have 2 more full days. I'm trying to decide if trekking to either the Viking museum in Roskilde or the Experimentarium is worth it for one of the days- can anyone advise? It sems like there is a ton to do in central Copenhagen and I don't want to cut it short either. The children's wing of the National Museum and the Museum of the Danish Resistance also look interesting- I don't want to do too many museums, preferably 2 at most unless it's really rainy. But it's hard to decide which!

I loved Copenhagen!! It’s beautiful, everyone was friendly, we had an absolutely amazing time. You won’t regret extending your stay!!

Tivoli is really neat in the evening all lit up! You picked the right castle with Rosenborg. If your kids are old enough to be interested, the first floor of the National Museum is an amazing Viking and before eras collection.

We opened and closed Tivoli but our kids are teens; not sure how old yours are.

We wished we had dedicated a full day to Tivoli but depends on your kids interests. And there are amazing, varied food options inside the park so no need to exit for lunch.

I was thinking of extending it by 2 days. Depart at 7:15am+2

We spent 1.5 full days there this summer with our kids and wished we had more time. Incredible city for kids and adults alike. We did Tivoli, canal boat tour, lego store, and biked around the city. I also explored some parks in a solo run and wish i’d had time to take the kids there too.

You won’t run out of things to do in 2 days and you’ll end up wanting to stay longer. Copenhagen is a great destination!

Yes - we did this on a recent trip that connected through CPH. Stayed for 2 full days on the back end. It was great. We loved the city and want to visit it on a dedicated trip. Highly recommend

I'm seeing cheap flights that have a layover in Copenhagen and I started browsing on things to do in Copenhagen and am hooked. Looks like such a calm relaxing place.

And they have the Tivoli gardens which kids would love.
