The issue is the raffia---it's for summer or resort wear. Open toes are fine if the weather permits.

If you balance them with clothes it could work

Just stop. Are you Judith Baldridge (Google her) risen from the dead (rip). There aren’t rules like this anymore.
That would be Letitia not Judith
Letitia Baldridge and Judith Martin.

Wear what makes you happy. No one cares and it’s about what you enjoy.

It's a question of taste though, which is not about what you enjoy or makes you "happy."

OP here. Thanks for the replies.

The shoes are like this, but dark brown: https://www.dsw.com/product/bandolino-ardonna-sandal/599319?activeColor=110&cm_mmc=CSE-_-GPS-_-G_Shopping_PMAX_Sandals-_-&cadevice=m&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADRIb9Sk8SfdN1fncYHH4pV_L4nKc&gclid=Cj0KCQjw5azABhD1ARIsAA0WFUFaQIx7KnTnqYis-gYeL1wvvsihc0H5zGBs6KkATMA4_jrXdw7Ksx0aAhwkEALw_wcB

In the summer, I’ve definitely worn them to dinner parties, nicer restaurants, etc. To me, these read dressier, not daytime (although that is because I never wear heels in the daytime).

I was asking because I was concerned that wearing an open toed slide in raffia material was seasonally inappropriate, although now you all have me wondering if I shouldn’t be wearing these even in the summer to parties and dinners!

This. They are too casual. I live where it's warm and open toe shoes are ok almost year round, but nicer open toed shoes. Slides would be way too casual.

Permission granted. You can tell anyone who gives you the side-eye that I said it was ok.

Would you wear open toed heeled raffia slides to an evening event in April? Or are they too un-seasonal? It’s an evening restaurant event, nice but casual.
