Not advocating for this but if he’s serious, try to pick courses accordingly. My ds is considering a transfer (to a lower ranked school, for other reasons) and the new school won’t accept a bunch of his courses to fulfill district requirements so he may have to do a 5th year and take more intro courses to fulfill reqs. It’s annoying.

As far as I know, she is happier and while I think Columbia has its problems, she was very disappointed to get deferred and then rejected.
OP - no advice here, but I'm sorry your DC is in this predicament. I think all college counselors help with transfers, but the main thing is seeing the odds of getting in. I've heard that Cornell is an easier admit for transfers.

Your poor kid. I really hope this infant real but sadly I know it is.
My kid transferred sophomore year. Going into freshman year he had every intention of staying 4 years. A semester in he realized the school wasn’t a good fit. It’s a ton of work to transfer. You really want to do the entire application process again?? Transfers generally get the $hit end of the deal housing and scheduling wise. Your credits may not fully transfer. Is your kid prepared to do a summer semester or stay an extra semester past 4 years? Transferring is not all sunshine and rainbows. Yes sometimes kids need to transfer but going into freshman year knowing you’re going to transfer is a bonkers. But in DCUM it’s par for the course.

DC got into a decent school through ED II (got a bit spooked and ED II to his 4th choice given higher acceptance rate), but we would love to have another bite at the apple in a year if things don't pan out/prefer a second chance to apply to his top 2 choices. Would appreciate your feedback, wisdom and suggestions on successfully transferring to a higher tiered-school (from T30ish to T10). Also, welcome referrals for private counselors that do well with transfers students.
