Underneath it all, that guy was a serial cheater.
It’s a cute song otherwise and when it was new reminded me of the dynamic I had with my then boyfriend (not a super healthy relationship, but he’s a nice guy).

Carly Simon wrote about her marriage to James Taylor, "That's the Way I Always Heard It Should Be." James Taylor wrote "There We Are" about Carly Simon.

"Ring of Fire" was written by June Carter about falling in love with Johnny Cash and her torment because she was married to someone else.
They were both married when they first met. After his divorce, he proposed to Carter several times before she accepted.
“Unconditional” was the word Cash often used to describe the love he and Carter had. She wrote many songs for him.
June wrote "Time and Time Again" for Johnny.
I wish my heart was stone cause you’re hard on flesh and bone
But even if my heart was stone I couldn’t stand that long
Cause time and time again you’re gone with the wind
And even when you’re here I know you’re making plans to go
You come back and I take you back but you like the shifting sand
And like the sand you shift right through my hands
Time and time again I got you time and time again
They stayed together for life and passed only four months apart from each other. He had this to say about her at her funeral:
“The spirit of June Carter overshadows me tonight with the love she had for me and the love I have for her,” he said. “We connect somewhere between here and Heaven. She came down for a short visit, I guess, from Heaven, to visit with me tonight to give me courage and inspiration, like she always has… I thank God for June Carter. I love her with all my heart."

I haven’t listened to this song in ages! I didn’t know the back story.

Nor a marriage but definitely about their relationship.

It seems about 1/2 of Keith Urban’s discography has lyrics about Nicole Kidman.

List songs that the singer or songwriter wrote about their spouse.
-eventual spouse, but while they dated
-or after engagement/marriage, dedicated to or about their spouse
Bonus if they stayed together, or at least it wasn’t a passionate 6-month marriage.
