This is the controversial take, but if your dog doesn’t need vaccines, then you can skip an annual check up. For vaccines you can go to a Petco vet clinic or a vet clinic at tractor supply company. The vets do give them a quick check.

Rabies shots are cheap.

We use Petwell.

Give the pet away you can’t afford it.

An annual check up is far less than that at my pricey vet. I'm guessing you are including the prices for vaccines in that?

We go to Value Vet for the physical exam for our dog Our local dog groomer also has a mobile shot clinic once a month (Dude Dog in falls Church).

The Pet Supplies Plus near me has a vaccine van. Check out your local pet store for vaccines.

And Costco fills vet prescriptions (including heart worm and flea and tick) for A LOT less than what our vet sells it for.

Petco/Petsmart have vaccine clinics.

If you get vaccines at another low cost location/event and don’t need blood work, a check up without those should be much less than $400 at any vet clinic.

Check with your county. Mine does reduced fee rabies and vaccine clinics

Have you asked your current vet? Mine is waiving exam and some Vax fees for Feds laid off.

I’m one of the many federal employees that has recently lost their livelihood. Trying to find low-cost preventive vet care. Does anyone know any local organizations that provide low-cost vet care? Thanks.
