Not even sketchy. Someone will take your seat if you drop out.

This is totally fine. If you don't go, you'll release it and then someone else will get the spot. It's good to keep the option open if you feel that you are seriously considering it!

It's not sketchy at all. It's how the system works.

Agree! Take the time you need to figure things out but no longer.

yes its fine. you obviously dont presently have any other public prek4 spot. release the spot so someone else can have it as soon as you are fully decided and able to.

Should we just claim our lottery seat for an OOB PK4 we LOVE at a great school by the May 1 deadline, even though we're not at all sure we can figure out how to access the transportation and aftercare logistics we need in time actually to attend this fall? (we also have a small deposit in on a private school near our house, in case we can't.) Obviously if we can't get everything figured out by summer, we'd withdraw...
Somehow it feels sketchy, but....we're technically allowed to do this - aren't we? is that a thing that happens? it's not dishonest in that we do genuinely want to attend the school, and we're working to make that possible! we just need more time to figure out how we can!
I don't know.

(We're also fairly high enough on the waitlist - historically speaking - at several PKs closer to our house that we'd ranked higher for commute reasons and which we'd be happy to attend that those are distinct possibilities...so that's another asterisk. But until we get actual offers, those remain imaginary in my book)
