I like the water bottle idea. Doesn’t need to be uniquely American, just a thoughtful gift. But maybe not very expensive one for kids since they may lose them. You could fill them with candy like starbursts and Reese peanut butter cups.

My go-to gift for people is a shoebox full of candy and snacks from Trader Joe's (no chocolate).

I like some of the DC themed pics by Joe Shymanski, either for adults with a quirky sense of humour or for the kids, especially if they’re into Lego Star Wars or Lego superheroes.

Things from TJs are always a hit with my UK family. My teen relatives and friends are obsessed with Target but I can’t really think of anything specific that I’d get them from Target so not very useful, but maybe you can? Agree that water bottles aren’t a great idea as we have those in the UK too!

Of course they can get anything there. But gifts are nice and the thought and all that. Teens will like anything that teens like as a gift.

For parents, TJs snacks are pretty popular. And the seasonings. Underarmour is also local and you can find some neutral things.

Not UK, but my family in Germany can buy anything we can here in terms of stuff. I bring food items as PP mentioned (and bring loads home). Stuff from TJs, chip flavors that are unusual, that kind of thing. You can find or buy most of it anyway, but it's harder and the prices are nuts when you do.

There isn't really a water bottle culture there like here. People aren't really running around with giant sippy cups. (At least not in our London office)

My family lives in Ireland, not the UK, but they like us to bring US snacks. Things that are BBQ flavored or pickle flavored, Trader Joe's snacks (peanut butter pretzels, baton cookies, everything bagel snacks). The water bottles aren't a great idea.

If I remember correctly, a lot of discussion in other threads was about vey specific food products that are available here that would hard or costly to get there. Like specific stuff people like from Trader Joe's,etc.

They don't live in Ethiopia, they have access to everything we do, and more!

Seriously though, enough with the gifts. You're going to shlep water bottles across the pond? Just buy them dinner.

Hi, I'm traveling to London soon and will meet up with a friend and her family, I'm looking for gift ideas for what to bring them from here. Two adults, and two kids, ages 11 and 8. I am thinking getting the kids monogrammed YETI water bottles, but I have yet to figure out what to get the mom and dad. Any suggestions? Budget is about $50 each gift, no alcohol. Thank you!
