There are subreddits about weddings and this gets covered on both sides. Brides will send color stories & look books with the invitation or post RSVP. (Bride, " Is it generous enough if I allow these six different shades of blue for wedding guests?"). Guests all pretty much dislike it. (Guest, "What is the difference between evening lit periwinkle and early morning periwinkle? Ugh.")

. Post wedding, brides go to other subreddits requesting some of their wedding photographs be photoshopped. Asking that the offending guests be cut out or their clothing colors changed.

You don't tell other people what to wear. It's rude.

It’s fine, but if I don’t already have a dress in one of your preferred colors, consider me purchasing one as my wedding gift to you.

Indeed. I wouldn’t want to go to a wedding where I was instructed to wear a particular color. I’m a guest not an instagram prop.

That's silly and annoying, and it presumes that your guests all can afford the expense of buying a new outfit if they don't have one that fits your criteria.

Brides, don’t do this, it’s stupid.

Seems a bit rude. If it's something like "don't wear white", well yeah I knew that already. If it's like "women please wear yellow, men wear aquamarine ties", that's super irritating because you're demanding I go out and buy a specific outfit for your wedding and it's controlling.

Thoughts on wedding invitation giving instructions on what colors guests can and can't wear to the wedding?
