Perimenopause can cause it!!!

Hot baths and hot showers cause it for me too.

Scrub them better with some Lava soap, loofa, pumice, etc.

Wear cotton socks, get new ones.

Exercise and drink more distilled water, and less junk food (carbs are bad for liver).

This - I would make an appt with your primary care doc and get your liver levels checked. I had cholestasis with pregnancy and I think the primary concern was for the baby, bc it resolves itself upon birth. However if it isn’t pregnancy induced, I think the potential outcomes are more serious. I found out because my feet especially would become insanely itchy at night. Also the palms of my hands and my stomach, but not to the same degree

What about the glue or other materials in your shoes?

Itchiness is a sign of a distressed liver (usually due to high consumption of alcohol).

Have you tried taking an antihistamine?

OP here. Thanks for these ideas. My spring allergies have been particularly bad this year. I’ve finally gotten them under control pretty much with both Allegra and Flonase. Maybe that’s why my feet stopped itching initially.

The liver issues idea is worrisome. I’ll have to look for information on that.

A reel popped up in my feed the other day that said itchy feet can be a sign of liver struggle, which is what I first thought when reading your post, and then you mentioned that same symptom when drinking. I’d never heard of it before I saw that but apparently the feet can give lots of signs about organ function, if that reel was accurate. Hope you find an answer and it’s easily fixed.

Funny, I've had this on and off for about two years. It stops and then comes back. I haven't noticed any correlation with anything. Only at night, with insomnia. I have an anxiety disorder that has gotten worse now that I'm in perimenopause, so I thought that maybe it was all some sort of psychosomatic thing.

You likely have some type of foot fungus.

How old are you? It may be that your immune system can't fight something off and this is a reaction.

For me it’s overactive histamine? My feet only itch at night but it’s unbearable. I take OTC allergy medicine - cetirizine hci (generic Zyrtec). It can cause drowsiness but since I’m taking it at night, it doesn’t really bother me. Benadryl works too but makes me groggy in the morning

I read that it mainly bothers us at night because you’re still and your body heats and blood flow slows down???

My soles have been annoyingly itchy lately and are kind of red. I tried some athletes foot cream just in case and that did nothing. So I went to the dermatologist, who can’t find any cause. She told me to see my primary care doctor in case it was something systemic. By the time I saw her, my feet weren’t very itchy and she found nothing.

Of course just when I thought it was over, they’ve started up again. They are particularly annoying in the middle of the night or after a long walk.

A few years ago they started itching after drinking so I figured I developed an alcohol sensitivity even though I rarely drank and still almost never do.

Any suggestions? I’ve been moisturizing them more and that does help, as does hydrocortisone cream.
